Acht Architecture Inc. is a professional consulting firm Located in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It was founded by Michael Acht in 2025. Through a highly collaborative and service-driven approach, the interdisciplinary practice is grounded in the belief that design excellence is both innovative and deeply meaningful. Acht Architecture Inc. is interested in exploring an architecture that is thoughtful and transformative with an emphasis on craft, materiality, and integrity.
Michael began his professional career with DIN Projects (2004–2006) and was awarded the prestigious Prix de Rome in Architecture for Emerging Practitioners in 2005. Over the past 20 years, he has championed unique and complex projects across a wide range of scales and typologies. As a lead designer at MMP Architects Inc. (2007–2014), he was the lead designer on notable projects including the Birds Hill Park Washroom and Shower Building, Grand Beach Washrooms, the Birth Centre (Base Building), and Ruth Gardens Apartments.
In 2014, Michael joined Cibinel Architecture Ltd. as a Partner, a role he held until 2025. During this time, he served as Partner in Charge for projects such as the Centennial Concert Hall Envelope Restoration, Tuxedo Residence, Carlton Street Walkway Upgrades, Muse Flats, the University of Manitoba Smartpark Innovation Hub, and The Elswood. He also led the pursuit and design of the new Animal Health Centre at Assiniboine Park. Now in collaboration with Acht Architecture Inc., Michael continues as Design Architect for the project.
Michael has worked extensively with private, public, and non-profit clients on projects ranging from multi-family and private residential to academic, cultural, institutional, and commercial work. His experience includes new construction, high-rise development, renovation, and heritage restoration.
